Fatal Collision north of Linden

Today, October 3rd, 2013, Beiseker and Three Hills RCMP members along with emergency crews from Linden responded to a single vehicle rollover located on hiway 806 near hiway 585 north of Linden.  The investigation found that the vehicle, a Mitsubishi Lancer, was occupied by two men from Linden, aged 22 and 25 whom were ejected from the vehicle.  1 man was deceased on scene and the other was transported to Three Hills Health Center with undetermined injuries.  RCMP continue to investigate this collision.

Charges pending in Stony Plain death

On September 28, 2013 at approximately 02:00 am, Stony Plain RCMP officers were dispatched to an local licenced establishment where a patron had assaulted an employee.  It is alleged that while in the process of breaking up one altercation, the employee was struck in the face by the patron.  The employee fell to the ground after being struck unconscious.

The victim has been identified as 30-years-old, Travis John Colby of Stony Plain.  He had been taken to hospital where he has not regain consciousness.  Mr. Colby has since past away.

An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow October 3, 2013 at the office of the Medical Examiners in Edmonton.

The matter remains under investigation and charges are pending.

Armed Robbery in Gibbons, Alberta      

On Thursday October 3rd, 2013 at approximately 11:25 AM Morinville RCMP responded to an armed robbery at the Liquor loft in Gibbons located at 4905, 50 Avenue. A single male, entered the premise wearing a motorcycle type helmet and produced what appeared to be a firearm. The unknown individual departed the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Police dog services attended the crime scene which had been contained by RCMP members  Members patrolled the community in the hope to surface additional evidence and potential witnesses.

Suspect is described as:

- Male
- Caucasian
- Approximately 6 feet tall, 250 pounds
- wearing grey sweater, blue jeans
- carrying a blue duffel bag
- wearing gloves



Morinville RCMP are asking for the help of the public in solving this crime. High Risk Offender Update

At the present time, Llodyminster advise that neither Michael Sean STANLEY nor his vehicle have been seen in Lloydminster and that his whereabouts are currently unknown.  The matter remains under investigation.

Car collides with two Turner Valley children

Shortly before 8:15 AM, Wednesday, October 2, 2013 the Turner Valley RCMP were called to a motor vehicle collision at the corner of Edgar Ave and George St. in Turner Valley, Alberta.  Investigation has shown that an Eastbound car collided with two children, one on a bicycle and another on foot as they crossed Northbound at an unmarked intersection.  The 8 year-old bike rider was taken to Hospital where she remained overnight for observation. The second child , an 8 year-old female as well, was not injured.  The driver of the vehicle advised they could not see the children due to the angle of the sun in their eyes.  Alcohol, speed and fatigue have been ruled out, however, this matter remains under investigation.



Elk Point RCMP investigate death of man found naked in field

On October 2nd, 2013 at 9:20 a.m. Elk Point RCMP were dispatched to a call of a deceased male found in a farmers field approximately 20 kms northeast Elk Point.

The initial investigation into the death of the 21 year old Kyle John MARTIN is being treated as suspicious. MARTIN was last seen at a residence approximately 2 kms away from where his body was located. MARTIN was found with no clothing on and is believed to have disrobed sometime during the 2 km stretch. The assistance of the St Paul Forensic Identification Section as well as the St. Paul Police Service Dog Section and Edmonton Major Crimes was sought during the investigation.

The body of MARTIN has been transported to the Medical Examiners office in Edmonton, Alberta. An autopsy is scheduled for later today to determine cause of death.

RCMP are requesting that anyone who has information about this incident or any other incident please call Elk Point RCMP at (780) 724-3829 or 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). RCMP are particularly looking to speak to anyone who may have observed or spoken with Kyle MARTIN on October 1st, 2013.  The death is still under investigation. No charges have been laid.

Alberta Search and Rescue organizations to participate in large-scale exercise

On Saturday October 5, 2013 the Edmonton Regional Search and Rescue Association will be hosting a large scale mock search and rescue training exercise east of Sherwood Park at the Blackfoot Recreation Area and southern portion of Elk Island National Park.

Approximately 40 search and rescue organizations from across Alberta will be taking part in the exercise that will serve to better prepare them for future deployments.

The tasking agencies involved in the deployment of search and rescue personnel will include the RCMP, Edmonton Police Service and Parks Canada.  Resources to be utilized in the exercise will include search and rescue dogs, all-terrain vehicles and aircraft.

Prison Escapee Cody Joseph McIntosh captured

The manhunt for prison escapee Cody Joseph McIntosh (29 years old) is over, thanks to a coordinated effort between Hinton and Edson RCMP.

McIntosh was located in Edson yesterday afternoon and taken into custody without incident upon the execution of his Canada Wide Warrant.

On September 6th, 2013, staff members at Pe Sakastew Correctional Centre in Hobbema discovered that Simon Erwin Cardinal and Cody Joseph McIntosh were not accounted for and immediately contacted the RCMP and issued Canada Wide warrants for their arrest.

CARDINAL had been earlier arrested by EPS on Sept. 16th.

The matter is still under investigation.


Airdrie RCMP investigating stolen pickup truck, looking for suspects driving white Jetta

On September 30, 2013, Airdrie RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from the Canadian Tire parking lot on Veteran's Boulevard in Airdrie, Alberta. The stolen truck is described as a 2005 Dark Brown (may appear Grey in color) Ford F350 with Alberta license plate ZMV 626.

The suspects are seen entering the parking lot driving a White Volkswagen Jetta (approximate year of the Jetta is 2000 to 2005). One suspect entered and started the stolen truck, then both vehicles are seen leaving the parking lot traveling West bound on Veterans Blvd.

Consort RCMP investigate truck thefts

Sometime during the hours of 10 p.m. on September 25, 2013 and 11 a.m. on September 26, 2013 unknown suspect(s) stole a 2008 Black Chevrolet Silverado Duramax Diesel Truck with Alberta Licence Plate ZNS682.  The truck was taken from a yard site near Veteran, Alberta.

Sometime during the hours of approx 10 p.m. and 9 a.m. on October 1, 2013 unknown suspect(s) stole a 2011 Dodge Ram Diesel Truck, Hunter Green with Beige Under stripe, with Alberta Licence Plate MRE025.  This truck was taken from the Village of Consort.
