It is budget time once again in the Alberta of 2014.
There is an oft quoted nursery rhyme that readily fits into the latest spending fiasco by Alberta’s current Premier Alison Redford. Recently Redford and aide spent $45,000 dollars on a trip to South Africa for the funeral of Nelson Mandela. Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil billed taxpayers less than $1,000 to go to the same funeral.
What is wrong with that picture?
It seems that McNeil is cognizant and respectful of the taxpayers he represents and Alberta’s illustrious Premier is not.
Redford openly admits “mistakes were made” but still refuses to pay back Alberta taxpayers for those enormous financial “Mistakes”.
Therefore how does our illustrious Alberta Premier row her boat or fly in the plane as the case may be?
- Row, row, row your boat,
- Gently down the stream.
- Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
- Life is but a dream.
- Let us have some fun with the above rhyme in regards to the recent $45,000 flight of Redford and aide.
- Fly, fly, fly, your plane,
- High off the entitlement
jetTax stream. - Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
- Life is but a dream for Redford and team.
- It is sure different from the way most of us Alberta taxpayers row our boats or fly in planes. We realize that life is not a dream as we toil day in and day out supporting a Premier that seems to have lost touch with the taxpayer daily reality. Redford seems to be living, where her life is but a far off dream to the ordinary Alberta taxpayer as she merrily rows(flies) into the sunset on the taxpayer cash stream.
- One of the slogans being touted by the Alberta PC government of the day is “living within our means”. It seems this false mantra has been adopted by the current Alberta Premier as she merrily rows(in this case flies) around the world using any excuse imaginable to waste our tax dollars. Granted some of these trips are vital to growing Alberta’s economy and there needs to be face time with other heads of state around the world to keep the dialogue strong.
- There also needs to be a line drawn quite clearly by the taxpayers of Alberta that there is a difference between meaningful dialogue and globetrotting off of the Alberta Taxpayer cash waterfall.
- It also seems that Redford has decided to pay back a small token of the immense waste of our tax dollars she has incurred since being the Premier of Alberta. This token payback is in regards to her daughters friend traveling with them on the entitlement flights that Redford has taken often since becoming the Premier of Alberta.
- Is this token payback a political move to show all taxpayers that she is sincere in following the current Alberta slogan of “living within our means”? That is highly doubtful but that determination is up to all Albertans to decide come election day 2016.
- In two years Albertans will once again head to the polls. With everything happening recently regarding public service pension tension, heavy handed labor laws, and wasteful spending off the back of us taxpayers, will all this disappear like water under the bridge come election day? Will the current PC government hope all this will disappear with the short term memory of Alberta voters as they are once more blinded by trinkets and baubles to vote for a party that is currently wasting our precious tax dollars when more economical means were offered and refused?
- Countdown to Election Alberta 2016 starts now. The time will arrive sooner than we think.
- In 2015 the Federal election will take place for us to participate in and than shortly after that the Alberta provincial election in 2016. Are you preparing now to participate in both elections, because being informed and knowledgeable is the key to making your vote count?
- Quote:
- "Finance is the art of passing money from hand to hand until it finally disappears." - Robert W. Sarnoff(1918-1997) son of David Sarnoff executive of RCA(Radio Corporation of America)
- With the current Alberta feel good budget increasing the Premier’s office funding a little over $1million dollars, tabled on March 6th 2014 and Redford’s globetrotting ways our tax dollars are passing from our hands to the hands of people supposed to represent us in a responsible and equitable way.
- The Alberta Government slogan “living within our means” seems to apply to us taxpayers only as cuts in services across the board are made to support the lavish lifestyles of our elected representatives.
- When will the Provincial Government of Alberta actually follow through with what they say and lead by example instead of waste, as seems to be the case now, in the Alberta of 2014?
