Alberta man charged with sexual assaults on teenage boys in B.C.
On Thursday, March 6, 2014, B.C. RCMP arrested Alan John Davidson, 57, in Calgary, Alberta. He is charged with indecent assault, Section 156 CCC, and is accused of assaulting eight adolescent males between 1976 and 1981, in Clearwater, B.C.
In August 2013, Alberta RCMP became involved in an extensive, multi-provincial investigation originating from a complaint of sexual assault made in November 2012 in British Columbia. The B.C. RCMP initiated an investigation into the accusations against Davidson, who, at the time of the alleged assaults, was a minor hockey and baseball coach.
As Davidson is a Calgary resident, Alberta RCMP investigators have been working closely with B.C. RCMP in support of the formal charges that have now been laid against Davidson.
While the charges laid in B.C. are specific to allegations that occurred in that province, it is known that Davidson was a former RCMP member who worked and lived in Saskatchewan between August 1981 and August 1996. In 1996, he retired from the force and relocated to Alberta, where he resides today. The alleged offences occurred prior to Davidson’s service with the RCMP.
Members of the public who have any information about these crimes, or have any other information to share, are encouraged to call their local police agency, or the toll-free tip line at 1-877-687-3377.

During the late evening hours of Wednesday March 5 the RCMP were dispatched to an erratic driver travelling southbound on Highway 63 near the village of Boyle. Witnesses described the vehicle as travelling at a high rate of speed and swerving in the driving lane. According to witnesses, the driving pattern nearly caused a head-on collision.
RCMP patrolled the highway and located the suspect vehicle. It was soon determined what caused the erratic driving pattern. The driver was operating the small car with “The Club” affixed to the steering wheel.
“The Club” is an anti-theft device used on parked vehicles. It is not to be used while driving as it can greatly impeded a driver’s ability to control the vehicle.
The driver could offer no explanation why he was driving with The Club on his steering wheel. He removed the device before carrying on his way.
A 27 year old Fort McMurray male has been charged with careless driving and allowing an object to impede the safe operation of a motor vehicle. Each of these charges are subject to fines under the Traffic Safety Act.
