Readers accentuate the positives

George and Marilyn Machum, Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I would like to agree wholeheartedly with Penny Warris' comments  highlighting the very positive changes that have taken place in our community over the last few years.  While improvements in the Policy and Procedures areas are less obvious, substantial improvements have been realized in these areas.

The time and effort that goes with running for election to municipal office is significant and the effort and time commitments that accrue to those elected is demanding indeed.  I would extend our appreciation to all those that have put their names forward.  Their commitment  should be recognized and honoured by everyone.

We encourage all eligible voters  to exercise their right and privilege by voting in this election.  In view of the divisive issues that will be front and centre in this election, I would encourage everyone to seek out the facts and not rely on rumour and innuendo.  The final results of this election will be front and centre for four years so let's do it right.

  2. To heck with the bullies. Nice people outnumber them, big time. When decent people stand together the light gets white hot.

  3. Put the bullies in their place. Enough already.
No one has to take bullying from anyone, period. It will end.

  4. It dosent take a lot of figuring to realize that the only bullies were the mayor and councel. Oh we shouldn't forget their fans that all got a nice little gift to bad it will be a parting gift.

  5. Excuse me, but isn't that exactly what this current mayor and council have done to the good residents of this community for the past three years? You people are not seriously trying to rewrite the history books here, now are you? Please don't take us for dupes and dolts, for we are anything but.

  6. Widespread reports of anti-council and anti-mayor people forcing people and businesses into signing their 'petition'... Even a few businesses (mine included) threatened with boycotts if we didn't.

Decoux might be sanctimonious, but the ratepayers were worse.

  7. Ratpayers remind me of the mafia.
I had nothing to do with them, and am very glad. I never really did understand what they were supposed to do. And I was right, they did nothing. I think I am going to stick with the experienced people (a lot of which are already on council), and whatever. I think what you know is better than the unknown. I think we were duped by the ratepayers big time. Only wanting to fill a a few's own agenda.

I'm waiting for a reply from CNP to a FOIP request for facts about their rumours and innuendo. It is now 20 days beyond the 30 day legal response time.
