Today November 5 at 1:10 pm two motor vehicles collided on 20th Avenue in the town of Blairmore, outside of the Cosmopolitan Hotel. The accident resulted in a gas line disruption.
Crowsnest Pass EMS, RCMP, Fire/Rescue and Atco Gas workers responded immediately. To keep the scene clear 130 Street was blocked off for a short period of time. According to Deputy Fire Chief Jamie Wilkinson the entire incident took less than one hour.
"Everyone was evacuated from the hotel," said Cosmopolitan Hotel representative John Clarke. After the incident the fire department ventilated the building. The Fire Department opened it back up to staff, guests and patrons of the hotel in lass than one hour. Clarke said that a new meter and pipes are being installed today and the lines will be pressure tested for safety.
