I've been working my way through the Municipal Affairs investigation into the Municipality and am coming away feeling optimistic for the future. Reading that "The Municipality is generally well managed with areas that can be improved" is a great position to be in.
There is a long list of recommendations in the report for improving how the community is run, but no finding of general mismanagement or incompetence. It seems that most of our problems are related to issues of poor communication rather than poor judgment, and that's something that can be worked on fairly easily. We have some tinkering to do, and some polishing, but no major rebuilds. And that gives me a lot to be hopeful about as we look to the future.

We've been demanding information on program costs and the murky hotel dealings but get no answers.
ReplyDelete"Poor communication" suggests they are trying to communicate but not doing it well. "Stonewalling" would be a better description.
