Junior A Dragons vs Pandas
Toni Lucas, Pincher Creek Voice

St. Michael's Girls Junior A and B Dragons hosted the Crowsnest Pass Pandas at the Dale Wentz Memorial Gymnasium for two simultaneous games of volleyball on the evening of October 24.  On one side of the gym the grades 8 and 9 players played while on the other, the 7 and 8 grades played.  The Pandas won on both courts.

A game

A Dragons vs Pandas
This game featured the slightly older and more experienced teams of the evening.  The Pandas have some good talent, including #25 Sydney, who served well.  The Dragons have players that worked hard throughout the game as well, including #6 Olivia.

The Pandas won the first set by a fairly wide margin, but the Dragons came back and gained ground in the second set, winning it by a narrow victory.  This pushed the match to three sets.  The Dragons lacked consistency for the final set and the Pandas pressed ahead, once again winning by the largest margin of the match, 15 - 25, giving the Pandas the best 2 out of three to win the match.

B game

B Dragons vs Pandas
This game was an easy victory for the Pandas, who won all three sets of the match.  The Pandas worked well together as a team  and demonstrated a good understanding of the fundamentals of the game.  The Dragons have some really good athletes, but the late start they had on the season start has put them a little behindin terms of honing their skills.  The Dragons showed spirit until the end.  It looked like the girls were having fun, a heartwarming aspect of this team.
