Municipality of Crowsnest Pass begins process to take ownership of River Run

Randy Spencer

The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass has started the process to take ownership of the River Run property.  There were no bids made on the 270 lots that went up for auction in August to collect back taxes.  The Municipality is owed over a million dollars in property taxes.  The 52 acres is worth $500,690.  Proceedings have also started to take ownership of three properties that are not included in the River Run land, which also failed to get any bids during the tax recovery auction.  Council has also decided to purchase a fourth property in Hillcrest for $1140.  The lot is three thousand square feet in size.
